GPIC president participates in CPCIF conference

Manama, Sep. 19 (BNA): With his continued efforts in internationally and regionally promoting industrial safety and environmental protection, Chairman of the International Fertiliser Industry Association (IFA) and Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (GPIC) President Dr. Abdulrahman Jawahery participated in the China Petroleum & Chemical International Conference (CPCIF), which took place in Shanghai, China, on September 12-13. Prominent Industry Leaders and professionals from countries around the world took part in the event. Opening his working paper, Dr. Jawahery said "As Chairman of the International Fertilizer Association (IFA) and as the President of GPIC, an important fertilizer producer from Bahrain, I would like to talk about Changing the World through Good Product Stewardship today." He stressed that product stewardship and supervision starts from the support of safety and health standards, and environmental protection on the product itself, and the cooperation of everyone in carrying out their responsibilities with regard to the reduction of any adverse effects that may result from the production and processing product cycle. The paper also explained the importance of strengthening the application of safety, health and environmental standards, particularly in light of the Fertilizer Industry’s contribution of about 50 % of global agricultural production, which of course impacts the environment. Dr. Jawahery talked about safety issues, which confirmed that they are present in all industries around the world, however it is also different in the Fertilizer Industry due to the nature of the products produced in this dynamic industry. He also spoke in the paper about the great development of the Fertilizer Industry in recent decades, which has contributed to strengthening safe occupational environments by implementing strict guidelines and procedures. Speaking on the occasion, he expressed his happiness with this participation, stressing that such events anticipated by specialists and those interested in this vital industry is an opportunity to discuss and learn the latest developments in the fertilizer industry and benefit from different experiences enjoyed by its participants. He also expressed his sincere thanks to all Chinese Energy Industry Leaders and the organizers of China Petroleum & Chemical International (CPCIF) Annual Conference for their great eagerness to invite International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA) officials, and involve them in the Annual CPCIF meeting, expressing hope that IFA’s presence will continue in the upcoming Chinese Union annual conferences as one of the most important events held annually on a global basis. IFA Chairman praised the significant Annual Conference, that this year in particular and for the first time included a special session having the Fertilizer Industry in its agenda. he said the IFA seizes this great opportunity to shed the light and raise awareness on global Fertilizer issues. The IFA encourages and supports all measures taken to enhance the Fertilizer markets that are considered as one of the most important global markets in terms of production and consumption. Dr. Jawahery also said that the IFA’s participation in this Conference serves its purpose and vision in emphasizing the relationships and bonds with members and authorities related to food security, which is considered as one of the most significant challenges faced by the world.
