Healthcare development on track

Manama, Sep. 21 (BNA): Health Minister Faeqa bint Saeed Al Saleh affirmed that the Ministry of Health (MoH) continues to implement its preset plans and projects within the Government Action Plan 2015-2018. The ministry within this context has successfully accomplished a series of projects and programmes, including hosting 34 visiting doctors as part of the Visiting Physicians Programme bringing medical experts from around the world in compliance with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister since the beginning of this year, she said. The ministry has opened the first Hereditary Blood Disorders Centre in the region which provides its services to about 5,000 sickle-cell patients around the clock. The minister told the press that the ministry has launched the free online appointment reservation service at 15 health centres (HCs). The ministry also added 50 beds to Ebrahim Khalil Kanoo Community Centre after its expansion. The minister cited major accomplishments implemented by the ministry within the current five-year Government Action Plan, including the establishment of the Kidney Dialysis Centre in Al-Honainiya area in June. The ministry launched physiotherapy service in Hamad Kanoo Health Centre for the benefit about 25,000 patients. The ministry issued e-birth certificates to 2,169 applicants in addition to its expansion of Al-Hoora Health Centre which now serves about 24,000 patients and visitors.
