Heavy rain likely in Bangkok tonight
BANGKOK, Sept 23 (TNA) – Meteorological Department predicted continued light showers through the day and heavy rain later tonight across Thailand’s capital.
Surapong Sarapa, head of Thai Meteorological Department’s Central Weather Forecast Division, said the monsoon trough prevails in and around Bangkok, bringing rain to the capital city for the whole day. Also, heavy rainfall is likely tonight but will not be as much as that in the past two days.
As for next week, isolated rain can be witnessed in some parts of the city in the afternoons and evenings, he said. Such a weather condition will continue until early October.
Meanwhile, Sompong Wiangkaew, director of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s Department of Drainage and Sewerage, said moderate to heavy rain hit areas across Bangkok over the past 24 hours. Floods were reported in five different areas, but the situations have returned to normalcy.
He continued that officials have been put on high alert around the clock, and water pumps are working to drain water out of major canals in preparation for possible rainfalls during these few days. (TNA)
