More facilities to be developed in honor of former Thai Kings

BANGKOK, September 26 (TNA) - Army Chief General Teerachai Nakwanich says that more facilities will be developed at the Ratchapak Park, a venue to homor former Thai Kings in Hua Hin area of Prachauap Khiri Khan Province in the Upper Thai South. General Teerachai told journalists on Monday that, among others, shade trees and bike lanes will be built in the premise of the Ratchapak Park with a large fountain as well. General Teerachai made the remarks while presiding over a ceremony to pay homage to seven 13-meter-tall statues of former Thai Kings from the ancient Sukhothai Era to the Rattanakosin Era at the Ratchapak Park, in which other senior army officers and battalion commanders also participated, about one year after the former Thai Kings' Memorial Royal Park was officially opened for public visits. According to the Thai army chief, a pond will also be built to restore water for use in the compound of the Royal Park and a solar power system will be installed as well. The Royal Park, located on an area of 88.8 acres in an army compound, is aimed to demonstrate the Thai people’s loyalty to the long-standing Royal Monarchy and to educate the public on the Thai history greatly contributed by the former Thai Kings. Besides, the Royal Park now becomes one of Thailand's tourist attractions, especially in Hua Hin. (TNA)
