Health minister chairs meeting

Manama, Sep. 29 (BNA): The National Committee for combating non-communicable diseases has today convened at the Health Ministry headquarters in Juffair.
Health Minister Faeqa bint Said Al-Saleh chaired the meeting, in the presence of Assistant Undersecretary for Hospital Affairs Dr. Walid Al-Manea, Public Health Director Dr. Mariam Al-Hajeri, ministry officials and representatives of government departments and associations.
The minister stressed the key role of the new-look panel in meeting the main goals related to the prevention against the dangers of non-communicable diseases and the improvement of health services.
The meeting focused on the ministerial edict on reducing salt in traditional and modern bakeries in compliance with the World Health Organisation (WHO) and GCC requirements.
The panel has also reviewed the update national plan during the meeting which featured a presentation on the incidence of cancer in Bahrain and results of the national survey.
