MILY READY TO ASSIST POLICE IN SECURING VITAL FACILITIES
Jakarta, Jan 20 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Military (TNI) Headquarters said on Tuesday it is ready to assist the police in securing the country's vital facilities following Sunday's fire at the Plumpang fuel oil depot.
It was fully for the police to secure the vital objects since the TNI launched its reform agenda, Head of the TNI Headquarters' Information Service Rear Marshal Sagom Tamboen said.
"Whether or not the TNI will get involved in securing the country's vital objects largely depends on the police's request. If the police feel unable to secure the vital objects any longer they can ask for the TNI's assistance," he said.
The premium gasoline tank run by state-owned oil and gas company Pertamina at the Plumpang depot in North Jakarta caught fire on Sunday night.
Plumpang is Pertamina's largest depot which supplies 40 percent of fuel needs in Jakarta and environs and 20 percent of fuel needs in Java.
Police are still looking into the cause of the fire.
