FUEL OIL CONSUMPTION EXPECTED TO DROP 5.3 PERCENT IN 2010
Jakarta, Jan 21 (ANTARA) - Down-Stream Oil and Gas Regulating Body (BPH Migas) has predicted that in 2010 subsidized fuel oil consumption would drop 5.3 percent from the quota set at the 2009 state budget.
BPH Migas chief Tubagus Haryono told a hearing with the House of Representatives (DPR)'s Commission VI, which deals with energy, here on Wednesday said that subsidized fuel oil consumption in 2010 was estimated at 34.9 million kiloliters, while the quota set at the 2009 state budget was 36.85 million kiloliters.
"Fuel oil consumption in 2010 is predicted to drop by 1.95 million kiloliters or about 5.3 percent compared with that in 2009," he said.
He said that the drop in the fuel consumption was mainly due to drastic fall in the kerosene consumption due to the kerosene-LPG-conversion program.
In 2010, kerosene consumption is predicted to drop 3.8 million kiloliters to two million kiloliters from 5.8 million kiloliters in the 2009 state budget.
Meanwhile, subsidized premium consumption in 2010 is expected to increase to 20.6 million kiloliters from 19.4 million kiloliters in the 2009 state budget.
Subsidized diesel oil in 2010 is also predicted to rise to `2.3 million kiloliters as compared with that in 2009 which is set at 11.6 million kiloliters.
In 2008, the realization of subsidized oil consumption reached 38.99 million kiloliters which consisted of 19.4 million kiloliters of premium gasoline, 7.8 million kiloliters of kerosene and diesel oil 11.8 million kiloliters.
The government has allocated a subsidy for 36.85 kiloliters of fuel oil in the 2009 state budget, which consisted of 19.4 million kiloliters of premium gasoline, 5.8 million kiloliters of kerosene and 11.6 million kiloliters of diesel oil.
