World Egg Day activities organised in Thailand

BANGKOK, October 13 (TNA) - Thailand's Department of Livestock Development, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, will organise activities marking the World Egg Day, which falls on the second Friday every October, aimed to encourage people to consume more chicken eggs. Department of Livestock Development Deputy Director-General Dr. Sorawit Thanito told a press conference in Bangkok on Thursday that his department will organise the World Egg Day event at the Future Park Rangsit shopping centre during October 14-16 as a public campaign to encourage consumers to consume chicken eggs from about 200 eggs per head per year currently to 300 eggs per head per year by 2018. Dr. Sorawit said that activities at the event will include sale of cheap eggs, a knowledge exhibition on the consumption of eggs, a contest for the Mr. and Miss Strong Egg Ambassador 2016 and the Egg Teen Talent Cover Dance Contest 2016. According to the senior official, the three-day event is expected to attract at least 100,000 visitors. (TNA)
