Siriraj Hospital plans museum for late Thai King
BANGKOK, October 20 (TNA) - Bangkok's Siriraj Hospital plans to seek permission from the Bureau of the Royal Household to open rooms where late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej had stayed and worked for the Thai subjects over the past years while receiving medical treatment to be a royal museum for public visits.
Prof. Dr. Prasit Watanapa, Dean of Mehidol Unversity’s Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital, told journalists of the plan on October 19, aimed to allow people, especially the younger generations, to learn on the late and beloved Thai monarch's great contributions to the public and the nation.
The dean suggested everyone being in grief change their sorrow into energy to do good things and follow late His Majesty the King’s advice, particularly on unity.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Teerawat Kulthanan, ex-dean of Siriraj Hospital's Faculty of Medicine, who took care of the late and revered Thai monarch in 2011, told reporters that late His Majesty the King worked all the time and was always concerned over his subjects while staying at the hospital.
"Whenever Thailand was hit by floods in many areas, late His Majesty the King went down to monitor the water level in the Chao Phraya River
at a pier in the hospital and ordered concerned agencies to report to him updated water levels everyday", revealed the ex-dean.
Besides, witnessing traffic congestion around Siriraj Hospital, late His Majesty the King also instructed agencies concerned to address the problem, leading to eight projects to alleviate heavy traffic in the capital.
According to the ex-dean, late His Majesty the King was hard-working and very disciplined in managing his time for daily activities wisely.
"Late His Majesty the King was a very good model of elderly patients as he endured the treatment and kept on exercising to regain his strenght on doctors’ advice", complimented the ex-dean.
