Hyundai Motor's Q4 profit drops 28 pct
SEOUL, Jan. 22 (Yonhap) -- Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's top carmaker, said
Thursday its net profit dropped nearly 28 percent in the final quarter of 2008
from a year earlier, hurt by higher marketing costs.
Hyundai earned 243.6 billion won (US$176.9 million) in the October-December
period last year, compared with a profit of 338 billion won for the same period a
year earlier, the company said in a regulatory filing.
The result, however, was far below a median forecast of 634.3 billion won in a
poll of 14 analysts by Yonhap Infomax, the financial news arm of Yonhap News
Agency.
