SK Energy swings to loss in Q4 on weaker won

SEOUL, Jan. 22 (Yonhap) -- SK Energy Co., South Korea's top oil refiner, said
Thursday it swung to a loss in the fourth quarter of last year due to a weaker
won and losses from equity investments.

Net loss came to 67 billion won (US$48.8 million) in the October-December period,
compared with a profit of 12.7 billion won a year ago, SK Energy said in a
statement.
Sales, however, rose 20.3 percent annually to 9.87 trillion won and operating
profit surged 44.7 percent to 269 billion won.
Shares of SK Energy rose 2.67 percent to close at 73,000 won on the Korea Exchange.
