North side of Sanam Luang to be turned into waiting area soon
BANGKOK, Nov 3 (TNA) -- The waiting and resting area has been planned to be set up at the north side of Sanam Luang ceremonial ground in the heart of the Thai capital, Bangkok, where authorities are expecting the improvement to be completed with one week.
Minister attached to the Prime Minister's Office Suwaphan Tanyuwatthana said that an adjustment would be made to the north side of Sanam Luang, where rubber concrete would be construct and tents be installed on November 6-7 to create a waiting and rest area for the public before entering the Grand Palace through the Wiset Chaisri gate to pay respect to HM late King Bhumibol Adulyadej who passed away in his 89th year on October 13.
The minister said the adjustment is forecast to be fully completed within a week.
In the mean time, he stressed that the construction of the royal crematorium for His late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej is still waiting for more details from the Culture Ministry, as there are plans, time frame, and other details which required further considerations.
Mr Suwaphan then noted that the Peace and Order Maintaining Command (POMC) is set to be the main host for the location management, where the public would be later notified of where they can they can reside during their wait, after the area would, once again, be adjusted to make room for the construction of the crematorium.
The minister said the northern zone situated next to the foot of the Phra Pinklao Bridge would be developed for the people, where food, beverages, and medical services would be provided, whereas the administrative points in 17 locations would also be adjusted after the zoning in the northern part is completed.
Mr Suwaphan pointed out that the operation hours during which the public could enter the Grand Palace to pay their last tribute to His late Majesty has been adjusted to become more flexible, where the opening hour has begun early than scheduled, while the closing time has also been adapted to give the last of the people in the queue the chance to pay their respect to the beloved and revered monarch.
The minister affirmed that the POMC has been compliant to the public's demands as best its could, while ensuring the best convenience and order for everyone involved. (TNA)
