CHIEF OF US 7TH FLEET VISITS EAST JAVA

Surabaya, Jan 22 (ANTARA) - Commander of the US 7th Fleet Vice Admiral John M. Bird met with Chief of the Eastern Indonesian Fleet Command Rear Admiral Lili Supramono at the latter's office here on Thursday.

John M Bird visited the office of the Eastern Indonesian Fleet Command in the company of US Defense Attache for Indonesia Col. Kevin Wilson, the office's spokesman, Lt. Col. Toni Syaiful said.
"At the meeting they discussed the increasingly closer cooperation between the two fleets in addition to joint exercises the two navies are conducting and will conduct," Syaiful said.
Following the meeting, both John M Bird and Toni Syaiful had a close look at the Indonesian Navy's latest warship KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda-367 moored at the Madura pier.
