EARTHQUAKE SHAKES MALUKU ON EARLY FRIDAY
Jakarta, Jan. 23 (ANTARA) - A tectonic earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter Scale shook Saumlaki, Maluku Tenggara Barat District, Maluku Province, on Friday, at 3.16 am Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
The quake's epicenter was located at 7.54 degrees southern latitude and 128.79 degrees eastern longitude, around 285 km northwest of Saumlaki, at a depth of 145 km below sea level, according to information of the national meteorological and geophysics office here on Friday.
The temblor did not have potential to trigger a subsequent tsunami.
