Additional tents erected at Sanam Luang to cater crowds of mourners
BANGKOK, Nov 8 (TNA) – The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) installed additional 40 tents to accommodate huge crowds of public members, thronging the pay respects to the remains of late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, particularly on weekends.
The additional facilities, installed on Monday have capacity to shelter another 12,000 people from sun and rain.
Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) spokesman Treedao Apaiwong said after the meeting of the Joint Peace and Order Command Centre, overseeing the areas around the Grand Palace that everything was in order last week.
What is worrying is health of the elderly, who wait in queue for several hours and could be weak and faint, she said.
Moreover, 100,000 pamphlets or “People Handbook” for those coming to pay respects to the late monarch at the Dusit Maha Prasat Throne Hall will be distributed next Monday.
The handbook gives public members the guidelines, hotline numbers to contact related agencies and maps of Sanam Luang ground to facilitate mourners. (TNA)
