"Father of Royal Rainmaking Day" event organised to honour late Thai King
BANGKOK, November 14 (TNA) - An event marking the "Father of Royal Rainmaking Day", which falls on every November 14, has been organised by the Royal Thai Air Force in honour of late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who initiated the Royal Rainmaking Project in Thailand.
Thai Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal Chom Rungsawang presided over the event, held at the Royal Thai Air Force Airport in Bangkok's Don Mueang area on Monday, during which he vowed that the Royal Thai Air Force will continue supporting the Royal Rainmaking Project.
On the occasion, the Thai air force chief also led air force officers to take an oath to carry on late His Majesty's initiation on producing artificial rain to people when necessary.
The Royal Thai Air Force has provided 12 planes to take part in artificial rainmaking operations so far and has welcomed the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives to access to 10 air force bases nationwide, as well as the Royal Thai Air Force's Flying Training School.
Besides, the Royal Thai Air Force has normally carried out around 700 trips of artificial rainmaking operations annually, all of which have always been successful in increasing rainfalls in local agricultural areas to relieve people's hardships from drought and helping raise water levels at local dams.
