Tourism season starts in Chiang Mai

CHIANG MAI, Nov 17 (TNA) – As Thailand entered winter, tourists flock to experience chilly weather on Doi Intahanon, the country’s highest mountain while promotional tour packages sprout up to attract tourists. Rung Hirunwong, head of the Doi Inthanon National Park in Chom Thong district said the temperature dropped to four degrees Celsius on the peak of the mountain. The first’s frost of this season has not yet occurred but it is expected to happen earlier than last year. At the Kiew Mae Phan scenic spot, the temperature was seven degrees Celsius. Tourists travelled to see the sea of mist in the morning. The Doi Inthanon National Park is prepared to provide accommodation, parking space and passenger vans for tourists. Expecting a large number of tourists in winter as usual, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, Chiang Mai Office coordinated with Chiang Mai Zoo, Chiang Mai Night Safari, Zoo Aquarium and the Royal Flora Ratchaphruk to offer promotional tour packages. One price package at 1,599 baht for two persons includes tickets for three zoos and one garden plus a room for one night. The offer is valid until February 28 next year. (TNA)
