EGAT moves forward with coal power plant
BANGKOK, Nov 19 (TNA) -- The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) affirmed that the constructions of the coal power plants in Krabi and Nakhon Sri Thammarat would continue as planned.
EGAT Governor Kornrasit Pakchotanon said the constructions of the coal power plants in Krabi province and Nakhon Sri Thammarat would be carried out as planned.
However, he noted that power reserves currently stands at the rate of 27 per cent, higher than the required 15 per cent, prompting the constructions of some new plants to be slightly delayed.
He further mentioned that although the power reserves have surpassed that required level, there is still need to build the new plants, as the new technology would help lower electricity production costs and reduce pollution, which in turn, will also decrease the price of electricity. (TNA)
