Police to track down human smuggling head
BANGKOK, Nov 19 (TNA) -- Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police Pol Gen Chakthip Chaijinda has ordered the Special Branch of the Thai police working in Malaysia to expand the investigation to track down a suspect who is responsible in trafficking 21 women to work in Malaysia.
Deputy spokesman of the Royal Thai Police Pol Col Krisna Pattanacharoen said that the Commissioner General has ordered acting Commissioner of the Police Special Branch Bureau to get in contact with Thai police officers currently posted in Malaysia to probe into the case, in order to the find the two Thai males who had been smuggling Thai women to work in Malaysia.
Both of whom have already been caught by the Malaysian authorities.
Previously, the Malaysian immigration police have found that the 21 Thai women are illegally working in Malaysia selling rice crisps in the state of Johor, but had legally crossed the border into Malaysia via the Sadao checkpoint in Songkhla province.
The Malaysian authorities, for the time being, have not yet charged the 21 Thai women, though they have been detained in Malaysia as victims of human trafficking. (TNA)
