Exhibition on 120th Russian-Thai relations held at TU
PATHUM THANI, THAILAND, November 22 (TNA) - The Russian Embassy in Bangkok and Thammasat University (TU), Thailand's second oldest university, have jointly organized an exhibition marking the 120th Russian-Thai diplomatic relations in 2017.
Russian Ambassador to Thailand H.E. Kirill Barsky presided over a ceremony to open the exhibition at TU, Rangsit campus, on Tuesday, aimed to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the Russian-Thai diplomatic relations next year.
The exhibition features historic events and longstanding bilateral relations between Moscow and Bangkok at four levels, including the royal families, the governments, people and economic levels.
The Russian ambassador said the two allied countries have planned several celebration activities, covering all facets of strong ties, namely political, economic, social and cultural cooperation throughout over a century.
According to Director of the Russian and CIS Studies Centre of Thammasat University (RSCT) Assoc. Prof. Yodboon Lertrit, TU is the first university in Thailand that has opened the Russian language course since 1975, as initiated by late Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana.
RSCT was established at TU, Rangsit campus, in 2015 to be the information center on Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in Thailand. (TNA)
