KAR-SA TICKET WINS REPEAT E JAVA GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION IN SAMPANG

Sampang, Indonesia, Jan 25 (ANTARA)- The Soekarwo-Syaifullah Yusuf (Kar-Sa) ticket in East Java's second repeat gubernatorial election has won in most of Sampang district's 14 sub-districts, a recapitulation of vote tallies showed.
The recapitulation released by the local election commission (KPUD) on Sunday (Jan.25) showed that the Kar-Sa pair had collected more votes than their rival, the Khofifah Indar Parawansa- Mudjiono (Ka-Ji) duo.
Kar-Sa garnered 210.360 votes while Ka-Ji only obtained 146,360 votes, in accordance with the recapitulation.
KPUD Chairman of Sampang district, Abu Ahmad Dhovier Shah said that the recapitulation was the result of legal votes collected in the second repeat gubernatorial election.
The first repeat of East Java gubernatorial race was carried out on July 23, 2008 followed by the second on November 4, 2008.
After the Ka-Ji pair rejected the previous results of the votes reported by the local election commission (KPUD) for alleged deviations, the dispute was later brought to the Constitutional Court (MK) which ruled that the election should be repeated in two districts, namely in Sampang and Bangkalan, Madura.
At least 370 police were deployed to guard the KPUD's personnel in preparing the recapitulation.
On the occasion, Ka-Ji's witness didn't want to sign such recapitulation.
