BUS CRASH KILLS SIX PASSENGERS IN GARUT
Bandung, West Java, Jan. 26 (ANTARA) - A Kramat Jati public transportation bus plunged into a deep ravine at Tasikmalaya-Bandung highway, Sukaratu village, in Garut District, here on Monday.
The accident occurred at around 3 am local time when the bus' driver lost control of his vehicle at a sharp bend in the road, causing the bus to fall into the over 100-meter deep ravine.
The bus was upside down and six people including the bus' driver were killed and at least 10 others were seriously injured.
The dead victims consisted of four adult males and two females.
The dead as well as injured passengers were rushed to nearby community health centers and hospitals, including Hasan Sadikin Hospital in Bandung and Slamet Hospital in Garut.
It was suspected the accident happened because the driver of the bus carrying 36 passengers, was sleepy.
