Science should bring tangible benefits to the economy. This principle is paramount at the Technical University in the eastern Kazakhstan and has been already implemented in their laboratories. For example, a real inspection station equipped with modern facilities operates at the university. A large part of it is collected by the University scientists. For example, a young scientist Samat Baigereyev invented cars’ brake testing systems. His equipment speeds up the diagnosis process by several times and enhances its effectiveness.
SAMAT BAIGEREYEV, PHD STUDENT, EAST KAZAKHSTAN STATE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY:
You all know that Kazakhstan is implementing the state industrial-innovative development program at present. It is this program that puts forward the improvement of technical equipment and technology in general.
In addition, Samat developed a special computer program to automate the diagnostic process. Their engineering laboratories always try to stay advanced. After all, technology is constantly getting improved. Technical equipment becomes more precise every year. This is especially important when testing vehicles’ environmental performance.
ALEKSANDER ZAVALKO, HEAD OF ENGINEERING LABORATORY, EKSTU:
Previous CO standards rate was 3.5%, now we have to measure at the level of 0.3%. The demand has increased tenfold! The devices should be ten times more accurate! This is the return of science. That is, we improve our diagnostic tools. We monitor environmental friendliness.
Other laboratories at the University work according to same principle to bring real benefit both for students and the region.
NIKOLAI LINOK, VICE RECTOR, EAST KAZAKHSTAN STATE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY:
We pay special attention to the training of the highest qualification specialists, who acquire knowledge in various scientific fields. Our university has recently conducted training as part of the of industrial-innovative development program. The government invests hundreds of millions in making the university more equipped with the latest technology!
This is done in order to let the University students to introduce their innovations in manufacturing. Experts say that science-driven economy is one of the factors in country’s development.
