FOREIGN COUNTRIES TO PARTICIPATE IN TOBA LAKE MULTI EVENTS
Medan, N Sumatra, Jan 30 (ANTARA) - A number of European, Middle Eastern and Asian countries were predicted to participate in the multi sports and tourism events centered in Toba Lake, Parapat, North Sumatra from June 2 to 9.
"We expect to have more foreign participants this year since the event will be held during the school holiday," Sakiruddin the committee's chief sports division said here Thursday.
The event was participated in by some Middle Eastern countries such as Iran, Saudi Arabia, as well as from China, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and France the previous year.
"The committee is conducting special preparation concerning the location for the events not only in Toba lake but also Cermin beach, Serdang Bedagai, Batubara and Belawan," Head of North Sumatra's Youth and Sports Affairs office Ardjoni Munir said.
The multi event in order to move the tourism sector was one of International Sports and Youth Maritime Festival series of activities which will be held in North Sumatra this year.
According to Sakiruddin the multi event was funded by the ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs while some regencies chosen to host some events should pay some costs on referees and officials.
Some regencies namely Batubara, Samosir, North Tapanuli and Simalungun regencies will hold several sports events such as beach volleyball, football, jet ski and dragon boat international competition.
