NUR WAHID HOPES OBAMA WOULD NOT PROVIDE FRESH WIND TO SEPARATISTS

Kendari, Jan 30 (ANTARA) - Chairman of the Indonesian People's Consultative Assembly Hidayat Nur Wahid pinned his hope on US President Barrack Hussein Obama not to provide fresh wind to separatists wishing to distrupt the unitary state of Indonesia.

"Obama remembers Indonesia not only with its meat balls, fried rice and rambutan fruits, but should also remember Indonesia as a unitary state," he said in a get-together with Prosperous Justice Party cadres here on Thursday.
Nur Wahid hoped that Obama rejected all kinds of separatism which disturb the unitary state of Indonesia like the South Maluku Separatist group (RMS) and the Free Papua Movement (OPM).
"During the leadership of former President Bush, separatist Alex Manuputy of RMS group received such a political asylum and in fact a small number of the UN Congress had reportedly provided a fresh wind for the independence of RMS and OPM.
"We just hope that Obama will not provide any fresh wind to separatists in Indonesia. If Obama heeds the call, it constitutes a great contribution to the civilization of Muslims and the world," he said.
However, Nur Wahid also criticized Obama's policy to send George Micthell in finding the solution to Palestine-Israel conflict without involving Hamas group.
"It's not a problem-solving in Palestine, but it may cause a new problem," he said.
He said that Indonesia was able to improve its role in world politics including an effort to settle the conflicts in the Middle East especially the Palestine-Israel crisis, as Indonesia could be accepted by Mideastern and Western countries.
