CONCESSION HOLDERS LEAVE RP1.5 BLN IN UNPAID TAXES
Muara Teweh, C Kalimantan, Jan 30 (ANTARA) - A number of forest and mining concession companies in North Barito district (Barut), Central Kalimantan, have stopped their activities but left some Rp1.5 billion in unpaid taxes, a spokesman said.
"A number of the concession holders have closed down but they still have unpaid land and building tax obligations," Chief of the Assets and Financial Management of Barut's Regional Revenues Service, Godlin here on Thursday.
Forest concession companies which had halted activities but still had land and building taxes in arrears included PT Karunia Wana Ika Industri with arrears amounting to Rp623.6 million since 1997-1998, PT Fajar Kahayan Rp93.9 million (2000) and PT Kahayan Terang Abadi Rp37.2 million (2001).
Mining concession companies which had halted activities but still had land and tax obligations in arrears included PT Barito Intan Mas with arrears valued at Rp656.8 million (1998-2001), PT Koda Jaya Rp101 million (1999-2001), PT Pasifik Mendaun Mineral Rp28.7 million (1998) and PT Pasifik Mirih Mineral Rp28.5 million (1998).
Some of the forest concession companies had their head offices in Palangka Raya (Central Kalimantan) and Banjarmasin (South Kalimantan) while the mining concession holders had their headquarters in Jakarta.
"They have stopped their operations in the fields and offices so that we are facing difficulties in claiming their arrears," Godlin said.
