Chinese New Year at China Town cancelled
BANGKOK, Jan 24 (TNA) -- The organising committee of the Chinese New Year celebrations at Yaowarat or Bangkok China Town has announced the cancellation of the festival for 2017, in remembrance of His late Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej, in which the whole country is still in mourning for the beloved King.
District Director of Samphanthawong Yutthana Pamai said that since His late Makesty's passing on October 13, 2016, all governmental offices have been asked to stay in mourning for one year in honour of the revered monarch, the organising committee for the Chinese New Year festival at Yaowarat has agreed that the festival should be cancelled this year, as the whole country continues to mourn for King Rama 9.
The announcement was broadcast earlier today to inform the public eagerly waiting to the enjoy one of the most important Chinese celebrations of the year. (TNA)
