Livestock feed sent to flood-hit South
BANGKOK, Jan 24 (TNA) – The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) transported dried pangola grass to farmers in the flood stricken South to feed their cattle.
The SRT worked with the Livestock Department and Chulalongkorn University under the project, initiated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn to transport 250 tonnes of livestock feed to help farmers, who raise cattle in southern provinces, which have been affected by flooding.
The first special train left the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima on Jan22, bound for four provinces – Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, and Songkhla.
SRT governor, Wuthichart Kalyanamitra said the SRT would cooperate with the livestock department and other related agencies to transport relief supplies and animal feed to aid flood victims and to help them in animal rehabilitation after flooding recedes. (TNA)
