Flood continues in Trang

TRANG, Jan 26 (TNA) - Flooding continues in southern provinces including Trang, where some areas are under three metres of water due to high tide. Flooding extends in Trang’s four districts including the provincial seat. Communities along the Trang River have been submerged as floodwater has flowed through several parts of collapsed flood embankment. Although rain stopped, high tide causes flooding to remain as high as three metres in some areas. In Krabi, rainfall also stopped but forest run-off has submerged more than 30 houses and para rubber plantations, which are under 50 centimeres of water. Villagers waded through floodwater with difficulties to tap rubber. Local authorities plan to install pumps to drain water out of the rubber plantation. In Narathiwat, six flood-hit communities along the Sungai Kolok River cleaned up their houses after the flood receded. Flooding left debris of tree branches and garbage with foul odor. (TNA)
