RI TO ENSURE BOAT PEOPLE'S SAFE REPATRIATION
Jakarta, Jan 30 (ANTARA) - The government will seek the safe repatriation of the 193 boat people stranded in Indonesia's westernmost province of Aceh, a spokesman said.
"We will try to speak to officials of their countries of origin to establish understanding regarding a guarantee on their safety. We also seek on how, if eventually they are repatriated, the safety of those people will be guaranteed," the ministry's spokesman, Teuku Faizasyah, said on Friday.
The boat people were found adrift off Sabang island in Aceh province on Jan. 7 and are now being given accommodation at the naval base.
