HMS Al-Madinah Docks at Jeddah after Houthi Terrorist Attack

Jeddah, Jumada I 8, 1438, Feb 5, 2017, SPA – HMS "Al-Madinah", of the Royal Saudi Naval Forces has docked at King Faisal Naval Base in Jeddah on schedule after it was attacked last week by the Huthis while patrolling areas south of the Red Sea. Upon docking, it was received by Chief of the General Staff, General Abdurrahman bin Saleh Al-Banyan and other senior officers including Commander of Royal Saudi Navy Forces Admiral Abdullah bin Sultan Al-Sultan; Commander of the Western region; Commander of the Western Fleet. General Al-Banyan welcomed the Frigate's crew of officers and enlisted, conveyed to them the greetings, thanks and appreciation of the Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Defense, for the bravery and courage they demonstrated during repulsing the terrorist attack. Gen. Al-banyan was briefed on the attack and how it was countered by the Frigate crew, how all measures needed for safety applied and the fire erupted as a result of the terrorist attack controlled. In his briefing, the vessel Commander explained that HMS Al-Madinah stern was slightly damaged by the attacking boat. instead, it continued its mission in the area of operations. In his turn, Gen. Al-Banyan expressed the pride and honor that all branches of that the armed Saudi forces hold in participating in the military operations under the umbrella of the Alliance to support legitimacy in Yemen, including HMS Madinah which was attacked while patrolling coasts off Yemen in a mission to protect the territorial waters of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the republic of Yemen as well as to ensure the safety of navigation routes in the strategic Bab Al-Mandab Strait. Gen. Al-banyan reiterated that the incident won't deter the alliance's forces from continuing their military operations in order to achieve the key objective which is to help the Yemeni people and the legitimate government to restore the legitimate state authority, and to protect its resources and capabilities from Houthi coup militias. He also pointed out that the suicide terrorist attack is a reaffirmation of the importance of standing up against the Houthies militias who constitute a regional threat, adding that the Huthis use of Hodeida port, which is now under their control to wage terrorist attacks is a clear threat to the safety of international navigation routes in addition to its negative impact on the flowing of humanitarian and relief assistances and medical aid from reaching the port and the Yemeni citizens.
