Dec 5 remains Thailand's national holiday

BANGKOK, February 8 (TNA) - The Cabinet has resolved that late His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s birthday on December 5 remain a public holiday to commemorate the late and beloved Thai monarch's contributions to the nation throughout his reign. Assistant Government Spokesman Colonel Athisit Chainuwat told journalists of the resolution after the Thai Cabinet's weekly meeting at Bangkok's Government House on February 7. The assistant spokesman said that His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has endorsed a Royal Command to observe every December 5 as a significant day for three occasions, which are late His Majesty’s birthday, the National Day and the National Father’s Day. Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha countersigned the Royal Command on Februay 6 and the Cabinet then resolved that December 5 remain a public holiday in Thailand. (TNA)
