FIRST MEDICAL EMERGENCY RESCUE COMMITTEE RETURNS HOME

Doha, Qatar, Jan 31 (ANTARA)- The first team of Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) Indonesia's volunteers returned home after completing their services to war victims in Gaza Strip, Palestine.

The team left Gaza through Cairo airport, Egypt for Jakarta on Friday night local time, head of the MER-C team, dr Joserizal Jurnalis told Antara in his flight transit here on Friday.

The first MER-C team arrived in Gaza Strip on January 17, 2009 to giving health services to victims after Israel's military launched vicious attacks to Gaza Strip since December 27 last year.

Report said that Israel's military aggression to Gaza until January 18, 2009 left about 1,400 Palestinians dead in the Gaza Strip.

Joserizal said the first MER-C team gave medical services in Gaza Strip for about two weeks, adding that the second team of MER-C had arrived at Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza city to continue giving services.

The first MER-C team members were MER-S Presidium chairman, dr Sarbini Abdul Murad, dr Jose Rizal Jurnalis SpOT, dr Indragiri SpAN, Muhammad Mursalim and Ir Faried Thalib (logistic affairs).

Meanwhile, the second team members which were led by dr Arief Rachman, comprising dr Abdul Mughni Sp, dr Nur Farhanah Saefuddin SpPD and dr Dany Kurniadi Ramdan (surgeon), and logistic affairs staffers namely Abdillah Onim, Husin Hamim Alatas, Bambang Sudarmadji, Abbas Idrus Al-Habsyie, Usman Shahab bin Umar Shahab and Bedi Abed Abdad. ***5***
