PALESTINIAN ENVOY TO ATTEND MASS PRAYER SERVICE IN PAMEKASAN

Pamekasan, Jan 31 (ANTARA) - Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia Dr Faris Misdawih will attend a mass prayer service to be held by Islamic clerics and Islamic boarding school heads in Pamekasan, Madura, East Java, on Sunday.
"We have deliberately invited the ambassador to the event to increase the solidarity of Moslems in the region with the Palestinians who fell victims in the recent war," organizing committee secretary Sulifaris said to ANTARA here on Saturday.
The prayer which is expected to be attended by thousands of Moslems will take place at the Al-Hamidi Islamic boarding school compound in Pamekasan.
"The prayer to be held tomorrow will be a pure religious activity and therefore anyone to participate in it is not allowed to carry a political party attribute. All the participants are required to carry only prayer items and to wear a white shirt and cap," he said.
He said the committee did not provide consumptions for the occasion. After the prayer the Palestinian ambassador is scheduled to attend a dialogue at the local Madura University in Pamekasan.
