JAKARTA STOCKS START LOWER ON REGIONAL BOURSE LOSSES
Jakarta, Feb. 2 (ANTARA) - The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) got off to a weak start Monday as regional bourses fell.
In the BEI morning session, the IHSG closed 14.012 points lower or 1.05 percent at 1,318.65, and the LQ45 index dropped 3.617 points or 1.38 percent to 258.947.
PT Danareksa Securities in its daily research analysis said the BEI index plunged due to negative sentiments in regional bourses.
Most of regional borses plunged following worsening earning reports of multinational corporations affected by the global economic crisis.
The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) dropped 7.75 points, or 0.67 percent, to 1,154.36 in the first 15 minutes of trading on Monday morning. In Tokyo bourse, Nikkei-225 index went down 0.48 percent or 38.30 points to 7,955.75.
The regional bourse falls affected 70 shares in BEI to depreciate, and only 19 that managed to advance, and 32 which remained static.
The share transactions were getting slower, with only 8,074 transactions, and trade volumes reaching 211.839 million shares and a total value of Rp242.038 billion.
Among shares which went down in the BEI were Telkom shares which plunged Rp200 to Rp6,100, Astra International shares which depreciated Rp150 to Rp11,850, Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) shares which went down Rp75 to Rp4,475, Bank Mandiri shares which fell Rp02 to Rp1,780, Bukit Asam coal mine shares which tumbled Rp150 to Rp7,250, and Bumi Resources shares which tumbled Rp10 to Rp500.
