SAMPOERNA AGRO'S SALES IN 2008 REACH RP2.288 TRILLION



Jakarta, Feb 2 (ANTARA) - PT Sampoerno Agro booked an income of Rp2.288 trillion from its sales in 2008, most of which consisted of crude palm oil, Sampoerna Agro's corporate secretary, Budianto Tjuatja, said.

He told the stock exchange market here on Monday that the company's crude palm oil (CPO) sales in 2008 stood at Rp1.932 trillion or about 84.46 percent of its overall sales in that year.
The rest of the income was contributed by oil palm kernel worth Rp253.72 billion, bean sprout seeds Rp95.51 billion and rubber Rp6.24 billion.
In its monthly bulletin in January 2009, the company said its fresh fruit bunches (TBS) production last year stood at 1,230,518 tons, of which 1,079,568 tons were produced by its plantations in Sumatra and 150,950 tons by its plantations in Kalimantan.
Sampoerna Agro's plantations at present covered a total area of 90,055 hectares of which 70,614 hectares were located in Sumatra and 19,441 hectares in Kalimantan, according to Tjuatja.
The compnay's palm oil production in 2008 reached 265.468 tons, oil palm kernel 70,622 tons, rubber 483 tons and bean sprout seeds 22,735 tons.
Tjuatja said the average price of CPO in 2008 was recorded at Rp6,730 per kg, kernel Rp3,564 per kg, bean sprout seeds Rp5,182 per seed and rubber Rp12,925 per kg.
