ANTAM'S INCOME DROPS 19.5 PCT



Jakarta, Feb 2 (ANTARA) - Publicly listed PT Aneka Tambang (Antam)'s income in 2008 dropped 19.5 percent to Rp9.51 trillion from Rp11.81 trillion in 2007, PT Antam's corporate secretary ,Bimo Budi Satrio, said.

Satrio told the stock exchange market here on Monday that the decline in the company's revenues was due to a fall in its ferro-nickel and nickel ore sales y as a result of declining demand.
He said up to December 31, 2008 the the company's ferro nickel sales dropped 3 percent to 17,026 tons from 17,547 tons in a corresponding period in the previous year.
The company's nickel ore sales also decreased 23 percent to 5,342 million wet metric tons (wmt) from 6,9,907 million tons in the same period in the previous year.
Antam's gold sales however rose 96 percent to 9,791 kg from 5,000 kg. Its silver sales also increased 27 percent to 34,342 kg in the January - December 2008 period from 26,968 kg in the same period a year earlier.
He said , overall, Antam's sales in the domestic market rose 504 percent from Rp346.63 billion to Rp2.09 trillion while its exports dropped 35 percent from Rp11.46 trillion to Rp7.41 trillion.
