Thai-Swiss pact signed to axe transnational crime
BANGKOK, March 8 (TNA) -- An assistant national police chief signed an agreement with Olivier Pecorini, deputy director of Switzerland's International Police Co-operation, on bilateral cooperation to prevent and suppress transnational crime.
Pol Lt Gen Withaya Prayongphan, the assistant police chief, said Thai and Swiss police had cooperated well on anti-crime missions and the signing would further make the partnership concrete and sustainable.
Regarding transnational crime between both countries, he said, Thai criminals illegally migrated to Switzerland and were involved in human trafficking and prostitution there. Vice versa, Swiss criminals fled to Thailand to avoid arrest and for money laundering.
Both countries had to tackle the crimes quickly and seriously, Pol Lt Gen Withaya said. (TNA)
