Hundreds of dead fish found in roadside canal
BANGKOK, March 14 (TNA) - The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has gathered samples of dead fish and water at a small canal along Vibhavadi Rangsit Road in front of the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP) in Chatuchak area in the capital, after hundreds of fish were found floating dead on the water surface.
Chatuchak District Chief Chaowarit Songnawarat told journalists that the result of the test, conducted by the Bureau of Environmental Heath, will be known within seven days to determine the cause that killed the fish.
Chaowarit said he initially believed that the massive floating dead fish on Tuesday morning should have been partly caused by the hot weather and the declining water level in the canal.
Meanwhile, OAP officials also collected water samples from the canal to check for radioactivity in a lab test.
OAP normally conducts the same test monthly, so does it conduct monthly surveys to check radioactivity in its surrounding areas. (TNA)
