NAVY TO DISPATCH SOLDIERS TO LEBANON

Surabaya, E Java, Feb 3 (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) is to dispatch soldiers to Lebanon on February 13 to join the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (Unifil).
"Technically, the soldiers are prepared for the duty. They have passed a tight selection," Naval Chief of Staff Admiral Tedjo Edhy Purdjianto said here on Tuesday.
He said the soldiers who will be part of a 100-strong contingent will depart for Lebanon aboard Indonesian warship KRI Diponegoro.
"They will be there for six months," he said.
The contingent is made up of trained soldiers, doctors, journalists and ship crew members, he said.
"It will be a milestone in the history of TNI AL to send its forces overseas to maintain world peace," he said.
"In Lebanon we will be merely carry out the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) set by the peacekeeping force led by an Italian general," he said.
