Thais encourage to install dash cams
BANGKOK, April 1 (TNA) -- Thai motorists are encouraged to install dash cams ahead of the coming Songkran Festival as it would help revealed the truth behind an incident or accident, while helping to control the behaviour of drivers.
Secretary-General of the Don't Drive Drunk Foundation (DDD) Dr Taejing Siripanich, together with President of Super Poll Dr Noppadol Kannikar, and Director of Centre for Alcohol Studies (CAS) Dr Sawitree Asanangkornchai recently gave a joint press conference on the project to promote the installation of dash cams on every car to help protect innocent people and bring justice to wrong doers on the road.
Dr Noppadol said a survey on all occupations on road accidents control during forth coming Songkran Festival revealed that 45.1 per cent said they would commute with their own personal vehicles during the Songkran Festival, followed by public transportation and motorcycles respectively.
Meanwhile, 58.8n per cent believe that if the government does not mete out new measures to control road accident, more deaths would occur, where 86.8 per cent said they felt like they were risking getting into an accident and loosing their lives more during the festival.
Asked about how they would cope with road accidents, such as drunk driving and other related reasons, 56.1 per cent said they would try to stay away from where the accident took place, 53.9 per cent expressed they would install a dash cam, and 40.2 said they would inform the police.
Around 19.8 per cent have already installed a dash cam, and increase of about 10 per cent from last year.
The survey revealed 87.1 per cent said more dash cams should be installed and 85.6 said alcohol measuring should be carried out on every suspected drunk driver without exception.
It further reported that dash cams could help prevent extortion and protection the good people of the society as high as 94.7 percent.
Dr Taejing said dash cams could also help increase road safety, as it would help control drivers' behaviours on the road, where footage caught could go viral in just a few minutes allowing the community to condemn wrongdoers and bad drivers quicker. (TNA)
