Thais flock to buy world’s longest stamps
BANGKOK, April 1 (TNA) – Throngs of Thai people on Saturday traveled to a national book fair in the capital Bangkok in order to get a historic set of the world’s longest stamps.
Thailand Post’s booth at the 45th National Book Fair and 15th Bangkok International Book Fair was crowded with a number of people lining up to buy a set of five of the 170-millimeter-long stamps.
The special set of the stamps was launched to commemorate the 70th anniversary of His Majesty late King Bhumibol Adulyadej’s accession to the throne. Only 100,000 sets of the stamps will be up for sale at the book fair, which runs until April 9.
The stamps cost 45 Thai baht per set. Each set contains five longest stamps.
Each stamp depicting His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej in six different situations. The stamps represents stories of Royal Initiative Development Centres in a panoramic view.
Thailand Post said this would be the final official set of stamps commemorating His Majesty King Rama IX.
