Extended skytrain route officially opened

BANGKOK, April 3 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha has inaugurated the launch of an extended skytrain route on the outskirts of Bangkok, the Green line, linking Bearing with Samrong, the first stop in Samut Prakan Province. Accompanied by Interior Minister General Anupong Paochinda, Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisith, Bangkok Governor Aswin Kwanmuang and Samut Prakan Governor Chartchai Uthaipan, the prime minister also observed the skytrain operation at a control room and boarded the train from the Samrong Station to the Bearing Station in Bangkok’s Bangna area after the inauguration ceremony, held on Monday morning. The Bangkok governor announced that the fare of the one-station extension is waived throughout this month. After that, the governor said, a 15-baht fare will be imposed in line with the Cabinet’s resolution on April 1. It is expected that the one-extended station will serve more than 100,000 passengers daily. According to the governor, the entire extension, including other eight stations to Samut Prakan Province, has been set to be opened for public service by next year. (TNA)
