Spectacular sunrise witnessed at Thailand's ancient temple

BURI RUM, THAILAND, April 3 (TNA) - International tourists have witnessed a miracle natural phenomenon in Thailand, sunrise shining through 15 gates of Prasat Phanom Rung, an ancient Khmer temple in the northeastern province of Buri Rum. Both the Thai and foreign tourists waked up before dawn on Monday to wait for the spectacular solar event, which started at 06:05am and lasted for seven minutes amid the clear sky. The natural phenomenon happens four times a year, two of them occur during the sunrise and two others during the sunset. Head of the Phanom Rung Historical Park Wasan Thepsuriyanond told journalists that people who missed the event on April 3 can witness the same phenomenon on April 4-5 or later this year on September 8-10. Prasat Phanom Rung is a Hindu shrine dedicated to Shiva. The main stupa symbolizes Mount Kailash, his heavenly dwelling. (TNA)
