The police have named 11 suspects in the death of North Sumatra Provincial Legislative Council Speaker Abdul Aziz Angkat, who died of a heart attack after being beaten by a mob on Tuesday.

PROTECT SYMBOL OF PEOPLE'S SOVEREIGNTY

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has ordered the National Police (Polri) to protect the symbol of people's sovereignty in the country. "The order is made in an effort to prevent similar fatal demonstration in North Sumatra from happening again in the future. The president asked Polri to protect areas considered the symbol of people's sovereignty," presidential spokesman Andi Malarangeng said in Jakarta on Wednesday.
