INDONESIAN HUMANITARIAN TEAM READY TO LEAVE FOR GAZA
Jakarta, Feb 5 (ANTARA) - A team of the National Committee for Palestinian People (KNRP), which consists of seven doctors, four medical assistants and two volunteers, has arrived in Cairo and is now ready to leave for the Gaza Strip, Palestine, according to a press statement made available to ANTARA here on Thursday.
The press statement said that the team whose members came from a number of national humanitarian organizations such as the PKPU, the Indonesian Red-Crescent (BSMI), Wahdah Islamiyah and Dompet Dhuafa, arrived in Cairo, Egypt on Wednesday, Feb. 4.
They will replace the previous doctors' team and medical volunteers who have been in the Gaza Strip for over one week. The previous KNRP team left Gaza on Wednesday (Feb 4) for Cairo on its way back to Jakarta.
KNRP Team chairman Suryama M Sastra said the team which was ready to leave for Gaza was the third team. The KNRP has previously sent two observers when Israel began to attack Palestine.
The observers explored the possibilities of sending humanitarian assistance, such as foods, medicines, medical equipment (ambulances, wheel chairs and so forth), to the Gaza Strip.
Up to now, KNRP through the ASMI has contributed three ambulances, medicines and other medical equipment worth about Rp10 billion.***5***
