Thai government pleased with UNSDSN’s happiness ranking
BANGKOK, April 15 (TNA) – The United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UNSDSN) ranked Thailand as one of the happiest countries in Asia and Southeast Asia, the Thai government spokesman said.
Lt Gen Sansern Kaewkamnerd, spokesman of the Prime Minister’s Office, said Thailand ranks third in Asia behind only Singapore and the United Arabs Emirates and second in the Southeast Asian region, according to the UNSDSN’s latest World Happiness Report.
As for the world rankings, the Southeast Asian country climbed to 32nd from 31st in the previous report.
Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha deemed this achievement another pride of all Thais after the country was just named the world’s least miserable nation by Bloomberg, Lt Gen Sansern said.
The spokesman emphasised that the government has made utmost efforts to promote happiness among the people, particularly those on low incomes.
The authorities also initiated the 20-year National Strategy to turn the country into a high-income nation as well as establish transparent government operations, he said. (TNA)
