STATE BUDGET MUST REFLECT ECONOMIC RISKS: FINANCE MINISTER

Jakarta, Feb 5 (ANTARA) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati said the state budget must be able to reflect present and future economic risks.
"The state budget made every year should be able to reflect the the quality of the management of real economic risks at present and those that may arise in the future," the minister said here on Thursday.
Mulyani made the remarks when she installed echelon II officials at the Finance Ministry's Inspectorate General, Capital Market and Financial Institution Supervisory Agency (Bapepam-LK), Fiscal Assessment Agency, and Financial Education and Training Agency (BPPK).
According to the minister, the finance ministry badly needed the technical ability to understand various risks, particularly in the management of the state budget.
"The fiscal risk management center is expected to build a unit which is able to make future projections and estimations," the minister said.
She admitted that it was not easy to build the special unit because the benchmarks in other countries also had no special divisions like that.
"But this is an important unit so that a framework for a risk management should be established," she said.
