MFA:US-NKorea tensions won’t affect Thailand

BANGKOK, April 18 (TNA) - Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramuwinai says that tensions between Washington and Pyongyang will not affect Thailand and there is no need to issue any warning for Thai nationals who plan to visit Northeastern Asian nations. Don made the remarks on Tuesday, following the US government's recent move to send US warships to the Korean Peninsula, aimed to contain North Korea's nuclear threat. Don said the current situation is not worrying, expressing his confidence that the move will not affect Thailand and Thai people.Regarding concerns over the possibility of any spreading tension to nearby countries, such as Japan and South Korea, the Thai foreign minister stressed that there is no need to issue any warning for Thai nationals who want to travel to these countries at the moment. According to official figures, 901,458 Thai nationals travelled to Japan and 470,107 Thais visited South Korea last year. (TNA)
