SOME 134.900 OF SOUTH KOREAN TOURISTS VISIT BALI IN 2008
Denpasar, Bali, Feb 6 (ANTARA)- A total of 134,909 South Korean tourists visited the resort island of Bali in 2008, or up by 0.21 percent compared to 134,622 tourists of the previous year, an official said.
"Although the raise is not as high as those of Australian or Japanese, but South Korean tourist remained the third largest to come to Bali," head of Bali provincial statistics agency (BPS) Ida Komang Wisnu said here on Friday.
The amount of South Korean tourists to Bali in 2008 reached 6.77 percent out of 1,992,299 tourists coming to Bali in 2008, he said.
The South Korean tourists visit to Bali was the results of cooperation between Bali provincial administration with South Korea in the matter of culture, tourism and agriculture, Ida said.
According to him, exchange of visit between Balinese and South Korean groups of artists which was carried out every two years had brought about the good impact to Bali tourism.
South Korean groups of artists normally take part in Bali Arts Festival (PKB) on every June and July, Ida said, adding on the other hand Balinese groups of artists also took part in arts festival in Cheju, South Korea.
Ida said further that all South Korean tourists came to Bali through Ngurah Rai airport, unlike some of the Australian ones who came through Bali seaport.
Many foreign tourists visiting Bali among others came from Japan, Australia, China, Taiwan, Malaysia, England, Germany, France and the United States, Ida cited.
